About Amy
Amy Burk has over 25 years experience training adults to use technology and build confidence in their technology skills. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) where she got her start helping others with technology as an aide in the Business School computer lab. Starting her career in the sports industry with the Detroit Red Wings and Tigers, she used her business and technology knowledge to create operational efficiencies and manage sponsorships.
From there she moved to Home Team Sports (now NBC Sports Washington) where she developed advertising tracking technology, created and managed their web site and developed one of the first online/on-air cross-promotions. Excited about the potential of the internet, she moved into a position producing online sports content at America Online. In the fast-paced dot-com world, she was promoted to various positions, gained experience in product development and project management working on the team developing the first electronic wallet, managed client accounts and trained clients to use and integrate online tools. Throughout all of her roles, she worked to empower others by sharing her technology knowledge with patience and kindness. As her passion for teaching technology grew, she moved to Fairfax County Public Schools where she trained teachers and school administrators how to use technology to teach and do their jobs. In addition to seeing the gaps in technology skills in school staff, she experienced it with her adult family members and neighbors. Having identified a significant need for adult technology coaching, she started TechWise Coaching to help others learn about and solve problems with technology.

She has a Technical Professional Teaching License from the Commonwealth of Virginia and has earned Google and Microsoft Educator Certifications, a Microsoft Innovative Educator award as well as other awards.

She lives with her husband and son in McLean, VA. When she is not working with technology or spending time with family or friends, you can find her tending to her garden and beehives.
