TechWise Coaching's Purpose

TechWise Coaching was created to help older adults feel more confident using technology in everyday life while also supporting families who may not have the time, availability, or expertise to provide that help themselves.

Recognizing a technology skills gap among older adults, including family members and neighbors, Amy founded TechWise Coaching to offer personalized group and individual technology coaching for adults. She developed a curriculum specifically tailored to building technology skills in adults and offers regular group lessons at local community centers and senior residences, in addition to one-on-one sessions with clients. Serving Northern Virginia and vicinity, TechWise Coaching offers patient, personalized tech coaching that meets older adults where they are, without pressure, techie talk, or assumptions, giving caregivers peace of mind and seniors the confidence to stay connected and independent.​

About Amy

Amy Burk has over 25 years of experience helping adults build confidence in their technology skills. Holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan, she began her career assisting students, staff and faculty with technology in the Business School computer lab. Amy’s passion for technology grew as she worked on innovative marketing technology projects in the sports industry for the Detroit Red Wings & Tigers and Home Team Sports (now Monumental Sports Network) and then in the software industry at America Online (AOL). Through these experiences, she honed her ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple, understandable terms and transitioned into education. For over 20 years, Amy taught teachers and school administrators in Fairfax County Public Schools, helping them integrate technology into their lessons and work. Amy is a certified Technical Professional Teacher in Virginia and has earned Google and Microsoft Educator certifications. Recognized as a pioneer in her field of teaching older adults to build tech confidence, Amy has been asked to speak to various groups on how to become Tech Wise.
